Manufacturing Solutions Engineer📍Manchester
We’re not just another tech company — we’re building the future of manufacturing.
💼 We’re hiring: Manufacturing Solutions Engineer (Manchester, Hybrid)
We are looking for a Manufacturing Solutions Engineer to join our growing team in Manchester. Fractory is an online manufacturing platform – we don’t produce the parts ourselves, but work with a network of trusted manufacturing partners. Your role will be to ensure the parts we deliver meet customer expectations by working closely with our partners on quality assurance, documentation, and issue resolution.
This is a practical, hands-on role, perfect for someone with strong metal fabrication experience who enjoys problem-solving and taking ownership. You’ll be at the intersection of engineering, quality, and customer success – helping prevent production issues, investigating non-conformities, and making sure every order goes out right.
Fractory is a fast-growing on-demand manufacturing platform. We connect engineers with production capacity and take full responsibility for every part ordered. Our goal is to help customers manufacture smarter, with less time wasted on emails, sourcing, and back-and-forth.
🛠 What You'll Be Doing
- Support production orders by identifying potential quality concerns before they happen
-
Create and send QA requests to manufacturing partners
-
Investigate customer non-conformities and determine practical resolutions (e.g. rework, replacement)
-
Review incoming documentation/images for compliance
-
Manage QA ticket and reclamation pipelines (you’ll own the process!)
-
Communicate with internal teams and partners to ensure quick, clear resolution
🛠 You have
- Hands-on experience in metal fabrication – sheet metal, CNC machining, welding
- Strong engineering and problem-solving skills
- Experience in QA, investigating non-conformities, and resolving them in a manufacturing context
- Project management mindset with execution track record
- Confident using digital tools and switching between platforms
💎 Bonus Points If You Also Have
- Experience in a fast-paced order-to-order manufacturing environment
- Understanding of commercial or subcontracting workflows
- Knowledge of QA requirements in outsourced production
🤝 You’ll Work Closely With
- Account Managers
- Project Engineers
- Manufacturing Partners
- Quality & Logistics teams
🔍 A Typical Day Might Look Like This
- Reviewing production orders in the queue and spotting any quality risks before manufacturing starts
- Creating and sending tailored QA instructions to our manufacturing partners (images, drawings, checklists)
- Checking incoming QA documents and photos from the factory to make sure they meet our standards
- Jumping into a customer reclamation: reading their message, investigating what went wrong, checking partner feedback, and deciding on a practical fix (refund? rework? remake?)
- Logging everything clearly on our platform so your teammates always know the status
- Collaborating with Account Managers and Project Engineers to keep customers happy while solving things fast
- Switching gears often – from chasing down missing documents to resolving a high-priority defect
- Talking to partners about why a part failed and how to avoid the issue next tim
